Description

NGC 5907 is a spiral galaxy also know as either the Slinter galaxy or the Knife Edge galaxy. It is about 50 million light years away and has an apparent magnitude of 11.1  It is considered to be a prototypical example of a warped spiral in isolation. Very long deep sky imaging also shows a double loop or halo around the galaxy (I was not able to capture) which suggests the breakup of a dwarf galaxy.PixInsight used for processing. Mostly standard processes techniques except I tried a couple of different processes to try and bring out the dark vanes. Usually HDRMultiscaleTransform works well in this situation however I found it to be too aggressive no matter what settings I used. I therefore reverted to using LocalHistogramEqualization and then toned down the aggressiveness to bring out the dark lanes.
